FlywheelPleasant experience, great value for your money
Flywheel makes quite a few tempting claims on their homepage. Their website is very slick and aimed towards designers and freelancers. The wording they use makes it easy to understand and there aren’t any complicated technical terms.
Flywheel highlights some of the top features they offer on their homepage such as; blazing fast speeds, nightly backups, simplicity and optimized for Wordpress. These are all very tempting features if you’re looking for a Wordpress provider for your personal needs or as an agency who doesn’t want to be hassled by all the technical difficulties.
Flywheel currently offers 3 different plans for individuals, the main difference lies in bandwith and storage. They also offer bulk plans which include up to 30+ Wordpress installations as well as more extensive storage and bandwith. The bulk plans seem to be more targetted towards agency and resellers. Inviduals will probably be happy with the single plans.
The signup process remains very slick, which definetly fits the notion that this is targetted towards designers and agencies. Once you’ve signed up, you’ll be able to create a new Wordpress site in a breeze. They’ll provide you with a temporary domain name so you don’t have to worry about buying one for the time being.
Paying for your plan can be done through credit card of Paypal. This was a pretty straight forward step and I was greeted with a nice animation while my site was being created. I received an email that my site was ready about 5 minutes later.
Once your Wordpress site has been completed, you’ll have access to Flywheel’s admin panel where you have some basic statistics about your site. You’ll also be able to add add-ons to your installation, these include your SSL certificate, a CDN and multisites. This is also where you can create backups of your site and change some more advanced settings such as flushing your cache, enabling development mode and adding a staging environment.
The Wordpress installation is a very basic one without any extra installed plugins or themes. You’ll have full control over what you do with this.
Flywheel offers a free migration service which you can use to migrate your Wordpress site to Flywheel’s hosting packages. You can either upload your wordpress site as a .zip file, provide Flywheel with your Wordpress admin credentials or migrate from WP Engine or Wordpress.com
Flywheel provides you with automated backups every single night, so you’ll always have an up to date backup of your site.
Flywheel provides you with a staging environment which allows you to make changes without affecting your live site.
SSL Certificates are included by default in any plan.
The benefits of automatic updates are pretty obvious. They just happen, in a stable and secure way, and that’s one less vital aspect of managing your WordPress site that you have to deal with or worry about.
Flywheel offers a helpfull and well designed help portal, this will most likely answer any questions you might have. They also have a live support feature, but this is only available from 9am-5pm CDT.
Cancelling your subscription with Flywheel is pretty straightforward, you’ll be able to do it through their user panel.
I was also able to get a refund, have a look at their refund policy to see if you’re eligible.
